Subway Tile Shower Tub Combo

Subway Tile Shower Tub Combo – Hooray… three cheers for Pfister – they are sponsoring this post and helping me remodel our shower as part of our bathroom remodel. As always, all opinions are my own.

Remember the previous photos of our bathroom? Awesome, isn’t it? πŸ™‚ When we moved in, I was 7 months pregnant and the number one thing on my house wish list was a bathtub.

So I pulled out my maternity card and told Scott that I would only move in if there was a huge, beautiful bathtub.

Unfortunately the bathtub was small and a bit dirty. Are you watching? Obviously, the original tub was not the tub of my dreams. ?

After sketching out a few ideas, the only logical solution was to make the tub longer and increase the size of our bathroom by about 18 inches, especially since I got a killer deal on the tub and it stayed in our kitchen for a few weeks. ?

Fortunately, extending an existing shower isn’t as difficult as you might think, just carve out space from the next room. We used an old trick of ours from another major bathroom remodel: We cut into the adjacent room where the tub rested.

Most bathrooms will back into another bathroom and/or room or closet. The best way to make your bathroom bigger is to literally make it bigger!

In our last house, we used an entire closet to expand the bathroom and installed an Ikea closet on a different wall to compensate.

In this case, we needed about another 1-2 meters behind where the shower head is. Lucky for us, there was a generous hallway closet right behind the shower. It worked great as we were already planning to replace the cracked and stained tile. Here is the hallway closet (post remodeling) when we finished installing the shower.

I picked out my new tub and happily handed the installation over to the handyman and crew; I totally deserved it considering I was almost 8 months pregnant! πŸ™‚ I was so ready to soak my swollen feet in that tub combo!

After the new tub went in, we put down the white subway tile (because it’s classic, pretty, and cheap) and, like the rest of our house, put in waterproof engineered flooring. Things were going well!

A Vintage Vanity Made This Bathroom Makeover

Then…a dream came true. Pfister reached out to me and offered me the opportunity to try their bathroom accessories…

But… one particular collection caught my eye and when I saw that it was in gold, I was sold. Pfister’s Contempra collection is GORGEOUS. He made our bathroom more than we wanted! Do you see him? ?

We installed a Contempra 1 handle shower and tub in brushed gold. If you’re switching from another brand, you’ll also need a rough Pfister valve to connect to it.

I still pinch myself when I walk into the bathroom! It looks so different after the bathroom makeover – so nice and clean and the best place in the world to take a long bath and shower.

How To Tile A Tub Surround

In case you were wondering, the plant is a ZZ plant and it is the best plant ever. It’s harder to kill than a cactus. honestly I keep forgetting to water it or take care of it in any way, which is to grow new leaves! Do you see him? I’ll get another dozen. ?

Another tip: If you want a really simple bathroom organization idea, take all your shampoo and conditioner bottles and pour them into these amber pump bottles. Even if you have a million kids’ toys floating around your new shower, keep your eyes up for pump bottles as well. Bonus points if you’re a nerd like me and tag them. ?

It’s not always possible to have a separate tub and shower, so if you have a combined situation, there’s no reason you can’t make it as luxurious! πŸ™‚

I never would have said this a few months ago, but the hallway bathroom is my favorite room in the house. It’s such a peaceful and beautiful space…even though we’re not done.
