I’ve made some minor changes to the transcript below to make it all make more sense in text form. But in general, this is almost a verbatim dictation of what I’m saying

If you, too, have a small bathroom, you’ll want to stay because I’m going to talk about how to make a modern small bathroom, even when you don’t have a lot of space—or counter space, especially—to do so.

When I moved into this studio about 3 years ago, I had to figure out how to work around the space constraints and difficult layout planning that comes with designing a studio.

And even in my small bathroom, a place that barely has room for any objects – let alone decorations – I managed to create a space that reflects my stylish personality and also looks beautiful.

Small Bathroom Ideas That Will Make The Most Of A Tiny Space

Don’t you think that the bathrooms look particularly demanding to decorate? Tell me in the comments below, what is your biggest pain point when it comes to styling your bathroom? Is there a particular style you like? Do you realize this style? Tell me about your bathroom in the comments below!

The reason why I think that bathrooms are particularly difficult to style is because you don’t really have a lot of wiggle room when it comes to where things can go. In a way, you work within some very fixed parameters – the shower stays where it is, the toilet stays where it is, and so does the sink.

You can’t move things like a couch or a table. There just isn’t much flexibility when it comes to decorating a bathroom, especially in a small bathroom where all these physical obstacles are stacked on top of each other.

Therefore, styling a small bathroom really boils down to getting around these physical obstacles in small but effective ways.

There are three simple things you can focus on that will help you make a big style statement in your small bathroom. And I will tell you them right away.

First, I will talk about counter accessories, because this is the most immediate problem that appears in small bathrooms.

You probably want to add small decorative accents to your bathroom, but how could you do that when you barely have any counter space?

Well, I recommend starting with functional items – items that you need around the shed no matter what. You need hand soap and you need a hand towel. There is no getting around that, and luckily you can buy a modern hand soap dispenser that can be both decorative and functional.

The one I have was part of a Costco three pack – you don’t need to spend a ton of money on something like this!

Once you’ve taken care of the functional items, you can add decorative jewelry to the counter space you have left. I’ve used every bit of counter space here, but you definitely don’t need to fill all the empty space. My counter would look just as nice (or nicer, according to some minimalists out there, I’m sure) if I trimmed things down a bit.

If there’s one thing you should avoid at all costs when it comes to bathroom counter space, it’s cluttering up toiletries, beauty items, and grooming tools. Nothing makes a bathroom look worse than cans of hair spray, drugstore facial cleansers, makeup, and hair tools strewn about.

Try to leave only aesthetically pleasing things on the plans, and put everything else away. By the way, if you need some storage tips, check out this video where I share my favorite storage solutions that I’ve used since living in a small apartment in New York.

Some beauty and skin care items come in beautiful packaging, like this cleanser I have, so this should be the exception to the rule. It looks beautiful and suits the look here, so it is one of those things that is functional and decorative.

But look what happens when I take my drugstore cleanser out of the shower and put it near the sink. Suddenly, the whole picture is thrown out.

When it comes to small bathrooms, it’s all about the little details, and when it comes to limited counter space, there’s really no room for tinkering.

In any case, just put these unpleasant things away as best you can. I know it’s hard in a small bathroom

Another thing you can focus on when styling your small bathroom is to use larger wall art instead of small wall art.

It may sound counterintuitive for me to suggest large wall art for a small bathroom, but trust me, one large piece is better in a small space than a bunch of small wall art that will only make the space feel cluttered and occupied.

Now, yes, there are exceptions to this depending on the bathroom, but if you want a simple wall art solution for your small bathroom, I suggest you choose a large statement piece instead of a small piece, or several small ones. pieces

This allows your wall art to act as an anchor, a focal point, in your small bathroom, rather than adding to the clutter.

I have the LA gold foil map of LA here, which has an immediate visual impact in the space. Imagine if I had a small piece of art or several small pieces of art instead – that would just add chaos to the wall.

Another option would be to add a mirror here, which is a popular solution for small spaces, but let me warn you about using mirrors, especially in bathrooms: think about what the mirror would reflect. In my case, the right mirror would only reflect my shower door, which is not exactly one of the most visually pleasing aspects of my bathroom.

Having a mirror here would essentially be like hanging a picture in the shower door, and that’s not very nice.

I’ll give you a tip I’ve learned over the years decorating my small bathrooms from apartment to apartment: skip the bath rugs. You know, rugs designed specifically for bathrooms.

I’m going to say something controversial here, but screw it: bathroom rugs can be soft on your feet, but that’s about all they have going for them. More often than not, they are not the most elegant addition you can make to your bathroom.

What I like to do is use a visually attractive carpet that is not necessarily meant for the bathroom.

In a small space, your carpet is a great opportunity to communicate the style you want to convey. It uses the largest piece of visual real estate in your bathroom – your floor – and therefore has the potential to make the impression bigger.

Don’t get me wrong, bathroom rugs are fine. And the one thing they have is the softness and comfort factor on the toes. So if you’re prioritizing how your feet feel over style, I totally get it.

And if you are frustrated with your small bathroom – if it just doesn’t seem to go together in terms of style – then you might find that replacing your bathroom carpet with a more modern carpet is not necessarily meant for the bathroom could be. be the missing piece that puts everything together in one overall picture of your bathroom.

Well there it is! These are three very simple things you can focus your attention on to make a big stylish impact in your small bathroom.

Just because your bathroom is small, doesn’t mean you can’t still have those great splashes of style, even if they come in smaller packages. And really, it’s all about how they fit together. So, an object alone might not have the effect you want, but when you put everything together, it’s like this big symphony that you’ve kind of placed in a small … small space.
